Microsoft is one of the world’s most recognized technology corporations, with a vast market worth of $2.78 trillion. Microsoft founder Bill Gates confessed in a recent blog post that he does not believe in weekends or vacations.

Bill Gates has one of the most amazing success stories in history, having built Microsoft from the ground up with his boyhood buddy Paul Allen and then pushed it to new heights. Gates discussed how, when he was younger, he didn’t value weekends and vacations.

“When I was my kids’ age, I didn’t believe in vacations or weekends,” the Microsoft founder said on his blog. But as I grew older, particularly after becoming a parent, I understood there is more to life than employment.”

Bill Gates remarked that watching his children grow up has been a “invaluable source of wisdom in their own right,” emphasizing how real life experiences are just as valuable as professional life.

Bill Gates’ remarks came at a time when Infosys founder Narayana Murthy made news for declaring that the country’s young should work 70 hours a week for the nation’s growth. While Gates formerly had similar beliefs, he is now emphasizing the necessity of work-life balance.

The billionaire said on his blog, “I hope you’re able to take some time this holiday season to have fun and relax before we dive into 2024.”

In his peak, the Infosys founder claimed to have worked 80-90 hours per week and arrived at work at 6:30 a.m. every day. However, his comments drew criticism, with many highlighting the poor quality of life in many offices, workers’ mental and physical health, and low salaries.es.
