Trump retires DeSantis’ derogatory moniker and praises him a “really terrific person.”

Unexpectedly, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was recently hailed by former President Donald Trump, who called him a “really terrific person.” Trump’s sudden shift in tone is a notable divergence from his past practice of vilifying his political rivals with nicknames. With DeSantis becoming more well-liked among conservatives and maybe a contender for the presidency in 2024, Trump’s support may be extremely important in determining how the Republican Party develops in the future. Let’s examine this surprising partnership in more detail, as well as any possible ramifications for the political system.

After Florida Governor Ron DeSantis withdrew from the presidential race and backed his opponent, Donald Trump, who had been publicly mocking DeSantis for months, offered an olive branch.

At an event in Rochester, New Hampshire on Sunday night, Trump praised DeSantis for leading a “great campaign” for the nomination and called him a “really terrific person.”

Trump stated, “He was very gracious and he endorsed me.” “Thank you, and I’m looking forward to collaborating with Ron and everyone else to take down the dishonest Joe Biden.”

The final significant contender capable of sabotaging a Trump-President Joe Biden rematch in November is former governor of South Carolina Nikki Haley. But following the GOP’s disastrous performance in the 2022 midterm elections, DeSantis was the one who consistently outperformed Trump in presidential polling. DeSantis was a prodigious fundraiser who earned the moniker “DeFuture” for his hardline conservatism and demands for strict border controls.

However, a slew of technological problems and campaign blunders derailed his efforts almost immediately after he made his official announcement in May, drawing harsh condemnation from Trump. DeSantis resigned on Sunday, seemingly sealing his fate after finishing well behind in Iowa and receiving poor polling ahead of Tuesday’s New Hampshire election. Shortly after, Trump said that he would no longer use the governor of Florida’s moniker.

“Will I be using the name Ron DeSanctimonious?” stated Trump. “That name is officially retired.”

Trump is expected to win the GOP primary handily.

Numerous New Hampshire surveys, which were made public on Monday, indicate that Trump is likely to win the GOP primary. The largest difference is with InsiderAdvantage: Trump leads Haley by 27 points. The disparity between the Boston Globe and Suffolk is 19, the Washington Post and Monmouth is 18, and WHDH-TV and Emerson are 16. Prior to DeSantis’ withdrawal, the surveys were conducted, but he was tracking quite poorly in each one. Additionally, Monmouth officials point out that in the survey, DeSantis supporters were twice as likely to choose Trump as their second choice as Haley.

Despite his lack of involvement, Biden is certain to win easily with write-in votes on the Democratic side.

According to Patrick Murray, director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute, “Haley is not able to catch the front-runner, even with a bump in the number of Democratic leaners turning out in the Republican primary.” “Compared to other primary voters, Trump’s base remains more dedicated and driven.”

Today for Trump: Defamation trial in New York and NH campaign stop

Trump is making an appearance at a novel campaign location on the day before the New Hampshire primary: a New York City courthouse. The front-runner for the Republican nomination is in attendance at writer E. Jean Carroll’s defamation trial, just as he did last week, when Carroll accused Trump of sexual assault in the 1990s. On Monday, Trump—who is also charged with slandering Carroll over the attack—may give a testimony. Trump is expected to return to New Hampshire for a primary eve event in Laconia that begins at 9 p.m. following a day in court.

Voting in the primaries is discouraged for Democrats via phony robocalls.

Spokesman for Write-In Biden Aaron Jacobs denied that a phony automated call claiming to be from President Joe Biden was trying to stifle votes in New Hampshire. “It’s important that you save your vote for the November election. Your vote make a difference in November, not this Tuesday,” the caller, who sounds like Joe Biden, adds. The phone calls, according to Jacobs, are “deep fake disinformation designed to harm Joe Biden, suppress votes, and damage our democracy.” He claimed that law enforcement was tasked with investigating the matter to ascertain the culprit.

“We are confident that New Hampshire voters will respond by showing up to the polls and making clear that we won’t be intimidated by these dirty tricks,” Jacobs stated in a press release. “Until the polls close on Tuesday, we are committed to one goal: urging Granite Staters to write in Joe Biden.”

Sen. Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire is a part of the Write-In Biden campaign.

On a chilly Monday morning in Manchester, Senator Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire joined volunteers at a Write-in Biden Get Out The Vote rally. Despite her criticism of the DNC’s decision to designate South Carolina as the nation’s first-in-the-nation primary over New Hampshire, Hassan encouraged voters to put Biden’s name on the primary ballot.

The national party instructed candidates to “take all measures possible not to participate” after New Hampshire Democrats declined to reschedule the primary, and the state has been banned from earning delegates to the nominating convention. To “ensure that voters of color have a voice in choosing our nominee much earlier in the process,” Biden actively campaigned for South Carolina. Nevertheless, he is predicted to overcome rivals Dean Phillips and Marianne Williamson in the New Hampshire primary.

Hassan said that she has spoken with Biden about her worries and that she would keep pushing Democrats to support Republicans in maintaining New Hampshire’s leadership in the primary field.

Hassan declared, “The DNC made a terrible decision not to have New Hampshire go first.” “But Granite Staters understand that the stakes in this election are extremely high,” the statement reads in the conclusion.

Ron DeSantis’s amazing ascent and terrible descent

DeSantis was one of the most well-known Republicans in the nation a year ago. DeSantis, a well-liked governor and frequent fundraiser who was briefly dubbed “DeFuture,” appeared well-positioned to lead the GOP into the post-Trump era. But among the many shortcomings that ultimately bedevilled DeSantis’ presidential campaign was his inability to establish himself as a credible Trump substitute for Republicans. Other shortcomings included a tumultuous campaign organization and a conspicuous lack of warmth while out on the campaign road.

According to pollster Frank Luntz, “the candidate had an incredible track record of success, but he never learned how to communicate it.” Go here to read more.

Backers excited by DeSantis’ departure are Haley

Haley and her followers are furious that DeSantis has left the GOP presidential campaign. A few hours after DeSantis withdrew, Haley had her last engagement of the day on Sunday: a rally in a high school auditorium with television presenter Judge Judy. His declaration might not have a significant impact on the election; in New Hampshire, his support was in the single digits. However, Haley supporters were energized by his campaign’s collapse two days prior to the Jan. 23 primary. She is currently the sole contender separating former president Trump from the Republican nomination.

“Can you hear that sound?” Haley questioned as she got started. “That’s the sound of a two-person race.” Go here to read more.
