10 Best High-Yield Bond Funds Of November 2023

To find the best high-yield bond mutual funds, we began with the Fidelity Investments screener. Our initial list was 381 funds, including both taxable and tax-exempt municipal bond mutual funds.

We screened out all funds with lower than neutral Morningstar rankings. The remaining group included many institutional class funds with minimum initial investments of at least $100,000 to $1 million. We eliminated funds requiring initial investments over $3,000. We also screened out employee-only Class Z funds. Then we excluded funds that charge front end loads (Class A shares). And we tilted in favor of funds without 12b-1 fees, eliminating all but two. This narrowed the list to 35 funds.

We sorted the list according to 30-day yield, highest to lowest, and favored funds with yields of at least 6.00%. Only our high-yield municipal bond fund pick, PRIHX, has a lower SEC yield. But your taxable equivalent yield with that fund would likely end up higher. And we cut all funds that didn’t outperform their category average in yearly total return during at least two of the prior one, three, five or 10 year periods.

As for trailing 12-month yield, also known as dividend yield, we eliminated any fund (except for federally tax-free PRIHX) whose dividend yield was less than 5%.

The final list includes a diversified list of high-yield funds from various families. There is one federally tax-exempt fund for those in higher tax brackets. Forbes Advisor considers these the best high-yield mutual funds in terms of yields, strategy, and expense ratios.

All funds on our list are open to individual investors and can be purchased either through the fund families’ websites or on popular investment brokerage sites such as Fidelity and Interactive Brokers.

Tom Sandoval opens up about filming Vanderpump Rules season 11 post-Scandoval

Tom Sandoval opens up about filming Vanderpump Rules season 11 post-Scandoval

Tom Sandoval has revealed what it was really like to film the forthcoming season of Vanderpump Rules in the wake of the Scandoval saga.

Earlier this year, the cast of Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules became the most-watched reality stars on television after it was revealed that Sandoval, 41, cheated on his partner of nearly 10 years with his co-star, Rachel “Raquel” Leviss. The scandal was nicknamed Scandoval on social media, as millions of viewers tuned in to witness the restauranteur’s ex, Ariana Madix, confront him about the infidelity during the season 10 finale.

Months after Scandoval unfolded in March, filming for the show’s forthcoming 11th season began this summer. But with its scheduled release date coming in January 2024, many fans are wondering how the cast was able to move on from the drama. Speaking to Us Weekly on 27 November, the TomTom Restaurant and Bar co-owner admitted that he doesn’t know “what’s going to happen” on the forthcoming season but hopes that longtime fans of the show can look past his transgressions from last year.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen,” Sandoval told the outlet. “I hope that people can remember who I’ve been throughout over a decade of the show – who I’ve been most of the time.”

However, Sandoval did reveal that fans can expect the cast to find themselves in “tumultuous situations” – as they normally do each season. “We’re always having the one conversation we don’t want to have with the person we don’t want to have it with,” Sandoval said. “It’s tough to keep your composure.. but you do the best you can. I’m glad the season’s done filming, but there’s that not ever wanting it to air feeling too.”

Following the scandal, Sandoval and Madix called it quits after almost a decade of dating. After it was revealed that he and Leviss had engaged in an eight-month long affair, Leviss checked into a two-month stay at a mental health facility in Arizona. However, fans won’t be able to see how the model has moved on since the affair, as she confirmed that she won’t be returning for season 11.

Meanwhile, Madix is currently dating someone new: fitness trainer Daniel Wai. Sandoval revealed that he’s feeling “pretty good” since their breakup, but he’s still “bothered” by the barrage of negative comments he’s received because of Scandoval. “It’s kind of gross to see how this has brought out a really dark side of some people,” he said.

“There were times during this where I was on the edge and I got through that, but at times, barely. And I think people took it way too far,” he continued. “I think it’s important for people to maybe realise that and maybe take that into account before doing certain things or acting a certain way.”

The show’s 11th season is set to be released in January 2024. While Sandoval feels settled now that filming has wrapped, he noted that he’s anticipating that might change once the show airs. “I know once the season starts airing and I see things, it’s like it always is,” he explained. “We relive things when filming Vanderpump Rules, like, three times in the moment when we’re filming it, when we’re talking about it in our interview bites and then, when we watch it, we do press. So, I’m hoping that it doesn’t come back as bad.”

Vanderpump Rules, which premiered on Bravo in 2013, follows the lives of servers and bartenders working at Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurant, SUR Restaurant and Lounge. Following the critical success of season 10, the series earned its first two Emmy nominations.

Tom Sandoval has had quite a year. The Vanderpump Rules star began 2023 by lying to his partner, his side-piece, and most of his friends. Now that we’re nearing the end of an explosive saga, Sandoval wants his redemption arc.

Season 10 was, by far, the most successful time Pump Rules has seen since it began. The drama of Scandoval led to high ratings and Emmy nominations, despite the heartbreaking content. Season 11 will find Tom licking his wounds and hopefully changing his ways, and he’s glad filming is over. Poor guy doesn’t want to “relive” any bad situations he caused. Us Weekly has the scoop.

Sandoval has had his time in the spotlight. It was a dirty spotlight tainted with deceit and betrayal, but he kept calm and carried on. Tom went on tour with his “band” and seemed to lean into his villain era.

Tom went into Season 11 with his co-stars giving him snide looks and side-eyes, by BravoCon it appeared all was forgiven and most had moved on. Except for Ariana Madix, that is. When VPR returns at the top of 2024, Tom hopes it’s less about Scandoval and more about his journey to salvation.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen,” Tom began.“I hope that people can remember who I’ve been throughout over a decade of the show — who I’ve been most of the time.” Sure, let’s review! This is the same selfish man who left his girlfriend for a boys’ trip in Vegas. After she specifically said she needed him after her father passed away. Sandoval is also a serial cheater, as evidenced by his documented relationships on the show.

Sandy also identifies as a professional gaslighter. It’s never his fault, it’s your fault silly. Oh, remember the time he outed Ariana as bisexual without her consent? I do. Most recently folks are still waiting for Tom to acknowledge recording Rachel Leviss in a vulnerable moment without her consent. That’s a pretty big one.

Look, just because someone is generous with his money and knows how to pack a suitcase does not mean he gets a pass for being a shitty human being. Sandoval stated the cast is “normally in tumultuous situations” and Season 11 will be about the same vibe.

“We’re always having the one conversation we don’t want to have with the person we don’t want to have it with,” he added. “It’s tough to keep your composure … but you do the best you can. I’m glad the season’s done filming, but there’s that not ever wanting it to air feeling too.” Someone call Tom a wahhhhhhmbulance without haste.

Obviously, most of us have left Scandoval in the rearview. But even if you take away that monumental moment, you’re still left with who Tom was before it happened. Perhaps it’s time for him to work on that guy if he wants redemption.

Vanderpump Rules Season 11 will return to Bravo in January 2024.
