two Navy SEALs have been missing at sea for a week.
  • One of the Navy SEALs went missing on January 11 after falling into the ocean close to Somalia.
  • According to a defense officer who spoke with BI on Thursday, search and rescue efforts are still underway.
  • According to reports, one of the two collapsed when they were getting on a boat, and the other sprang in to aid.

Finally, the US and UK used a carrier strike group, fighter planes, and a submarine armed with Tomahawk cruise missiles to counter the Houthi onslaught.

Two Navy SEALs are still missing off the coast of Somalia after one of them fell into the water on January 11 during a nighttime mission in the Gulf of Aden, according to the AP. The second SEAL entered the water after the first one did, following Navy SEAL protocol to assist a fellow SEAL who was in danger, and the two disappeared.

The US officials granted the AP anonymity while speaking with them.
US Central Command chief General Michael Erik Kurilla stated in a statement on Tuesday that “we are conducting an exhaustive search for our missing teammates.”

Search and rescue efforts continued Thursday morning, a defence spokesman said BI.

According to CENTCOM’s announcement on Tuesday, the incident included the SEALs as part of an operation to take warheads and missile components manufactured in Iran from a ship off the coast of Somalia.

The ship was identified by CENTCOM as a dhow, a small watercraft that is frequently utilised in the Red Sea.

According to CENTCOM, the SEALs launched a “complex” operation from the USS Lewis B. Puller with the assistance of drones and helicopters.

Small fighting vessels operated by a naval special warfare crew transported them to the dhow, according to an AP story published on Monday that referenced a US defence official.

Unnamed authorities said in a Monday interview with The Washington Post that one of the SEALs tripped on a ladder while attempting to board the dhow. According to the Post, the other jumped in to support their friend.

According to the AP, twelve crew members on the dhow were arrested.

“Disposition of the 14 dhow crewmembers is being determined in accordance with international law,” said CENTCOM. It reported that after being judged hazardous, the dhow was sunk.

Per AP, the accident occurred at about 8 p.m. local time.

The Navy has been concentrating its efforts in recent weeks on the Gulf of Aden.

At first, officials informed the AP and The Washington Post that the event had nothing to do with Iran taking an oil tanker or the current US reaction to attacks on ships in the Red Sea spearheaded by the Houthi group.

Speaking to CBS’s “Face The Nation” on Sunday, National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby stated that the search was “still ongoing” and that the ship had been taking part in a “normal interdiction” operation aimed at obstructing the supply of weapons to Yemen.

“It’s not related to the strikes that we took against the Houthis,” he stated.

However, the US suspects the confiscated weapons were utilised by the Houthis in their assaults on commercial vessels, according to CENTCOM’s statement on Tuesday.

A similar story was previously provided by two US officials to the Post.

According to The Post, US Marines frequently collaborated with other governments on counter-piracy operations in the region, which occasionally involved boarding ships.

According to the AP, the US Navy frequently carried out these missions to intercept weapons aboard ships that were sailing into Yemen under Houthi control.

According to CENTCOM, the mission was the first time since the strikes started in November of last year that deadly weapons provided by Iran have been taken from the Houthis.

It said that it was “the first seizure of advanced Iranian-manufactured ballistic missile and cruise missile components by the US Navy since November 2019.”

To locate them, the government has started a large search and rescue effort. With fingers crossed for their safe return, the entire country is holding its breath.

It all began when a squad of Navy SEALs conducted a risky nighttime raid near the Somali coast. Despite their reputation for bravery and accuracy, something went wrong this time with these elite warriors. They went lost at sea, two of them, shocking and disbelieving everyone.

As the word spread like wildfire, the US government moved quickly to take action. They searched the huge seas for their lost heroes using ships, planes, and even submarines. The operation swiftly rose to prominence as one of the biggest and busiest rescue operations in recent memory.

The country held its breath, waiting for any news of its beloved SEALs as the days grew into nights. Prayers and words of support for their safe homecoming poured across social media. Individuals from all backgrounds gathered together, sharing a common desire for a miracle.

In the meantime, the families of the missing SEALs held onto every glimmer of hope that they could. During this excruciating wait, they congregated at the naval station and supported and comforted one another. They never gave up on their loved ones, which was a testament to their courage and resiliency.

The size of the ocean itself and the hazardous weather presented several obstacles for the search mission. However, the search crews never wavered in their resolve. In their relentless search for the missing SEALs, they examined every square inch of the ocean, turning no corner.

Then, following a week of anxiety and anguish, there was at last a breakthrough. A life raft was seen drifting in the distance by a fishing boat. They were taken aback to see that the missing Navy SEALs were there, alive and well, when they got closer. With the safe homecoming of its heroes, the country erupted in delight and relief.

Immediately, the Navy SEALs were evacuated to a neighbouring hospital for a comprehensive medical assessment. Even though they were worn out, their confidence did not waver. These courageous warriors had triumphed over hardship by facing it head-on.

While the country celebrated, it was a reminder of the daily sacrifices made by our service members. Never underestimate their bravery and commitment to defending our freedom. We will never be able to repay the appreciation we owe them.

This tale concludes happily, but it also serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers that our military troops must deal with on a daily basis. We should always remember the bravery and selflessness of those who serve, and we should do all in our power to support them.

Thus, let us not forget the innumerable individuals who are currently in danger and sacrificing their lives to ensure our security and freedom, even as we rejoice at the safe return of these Navy SEALs. They are the real heroes, and we should always stand behind them.
