Drake and Kendrick Lamar feud:
Drake and Kendrick Lamar have been dominating the hip-hop scene for almost a decade. decade, but they’ve also been quietly feuding for most of this time.
The two rappers have very different styles and attitudes towards hip-hop. Drake openly pursues chart success and breaking records motivates him. On the other hand, Kendrick Lamar makes music primarily for himself, and any other success is just a bonus.
Although they haven’t openly attacked each other in interviews, Drake and Kendrick Lamar have expressed their feelings about each other through subtle lyrics in their songs. The feud started when Drake felt offended by a verse on Kendrick’s 2013 song “Control,” where Kendrick mentioned 11 of his peers, including Mac Miller, Tyler, Meek Mill, and Drake himself. Drake seems to have reacted to Kendrick Lamar’s harsh criticisms in his verse on “Like That.” featured on Future and Metro Boomin’s album “We Don’t Trust You,” which came out last week During a performance at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida, Drake addressed the crowd, seemingly talking about his rap rivals and the ongoing feud. He confidently declared, “I got With my head up high and my back straight, I’m fully committed here in Florida and anywhere else I go. And I know that no matter what, there’s nobody on this earth that could ever mess with me in my life!”
Fans liked Drake’s speech, and they clapped loudly before the “It’s All a Blur—Big As, then What?” show ended.
Kendrick Lamar previously criticized Drake and J. Cole in his intense verse on “Like That.” This was partly in response to the idea of them being considered the Big Three in rap, as J. Cole mentioned in their song “First Person Shooter,” which reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart Kendrick Lamar dismissed J. Cole and then targets Drake in his verse, mentioning Cole’s song “First Person Shooter.” He talks about dropping his location and dismisses the idea of the Big Three in rap, saying it’s just him. Kendrick then references Drake’s album “For All the Dogs.” and compares them to music legends Prince and Michael Jackson on the track “We Don’t Trust You.” He mentions burying Drake’s friends and alludes to Drake tying Michael Jackson
for the Hottest 100 No. 1 hits last year.
Kendrick Lamar also raps: “And your best work is a light pack. Prince outlived Mike Jack.” Drake and Kendrick Lamar haven’t had the friendliest relationship since Kendrick’s powerful verse on Big Sean’s “Control” in 2013. They collaborated earlier in 2012 for Kendrick’s song “Poetic Justice,” but haven’t worked together since.
Drake will be performing in Birmingham, Alabama, for a show on Wednesday, March 27, and then he’ll head to New York for a few more dates.
